TV and film are some of the most accessible forms of entertainment for a lot of us. No matter what the genre, though, there are always those titles that will make us swoon with their set design. As we love bedrooms here at Salem Philippines, we’ve rounded up the most gorgeous and coziest looking bedrooms in both film and TV. Check out our picks below.
Every Sex and the City fan around the globe will easily recognize Carrie Bradshaw’s bedroom, what with the series’ iconic stature. This is why it’s impossible to make a list like this without mentioning Carrie’s bedroom. Despite being just the revamped apartment bedroom, we totally adore this bedroom. From the salon type wall behind the headboard to the light and flowy curtains, it’s all spot on for a relaxing space where you can be creative.
This one is the bedroom shared by Carrie and Mr. Big from the second Sex and the City movie. We love this bedroom for its perfect mix of feminine and masculine touches, making it a great space to share with someone you love.
Emily Thorpe’s bedroom in the TV series Revenge is said to be another layer in her attempt to disguise herself from the community. It is airy and light, much unlike her dark and secretive personality in the storyline. Nonetheless, it is a great example of a chic beach house space.
Jessica Day shares an apartment with three other guys in the TV series New Girl and most of the place is designed in a very masculine and industrial style. This makes Jess’s (played by the adorable Zooey Deschanel) room very refreshing with all of her floral prints and feminine decor without going totally against the entire feel of the apartment, as a lot of industrial elements are kept in her bedroom.
The TV series Pushing Daisies is a favorite among production set fans as it showcases some of the quirkiest elements seen on modern day TV. But what we love the most about it is Olive Snook’s (Kristin Chenoweth) bedroom, which has the most adorable matching prints ever. Much like her own character, it borders on too much, but is still quite comforting once you think about it.
Auntie Mame is a classic film about the eponymous character who suddenly becomes a guardian to her orphaned nephew. Being a party girl, she’s the last person you’d call a parental figure, which creates the plot of the film. The film is also famous for its set design, which is all sorts of charming and opulent, as the photos above will suggest. Honestly, what’s not to love about Mame’s round bed with it’s equally charming headboard and the “Marie Antoinette” room’s stunningly detailed headboard?
Leonardo di Caprio’s The Great Gatsby is one of the most highly anticipated films of 2013 and everyone looked forward to how they will bring Gatsby’s extravagance to life. Most weren’t disappointed, though, as the people behind the film went all out in its production design. Above is a photo of Gatsby’s bedroom, which is just breathtaking in its Art Deco style.
Not a lot may have seen the teen flick The First Time, but Britt Robertson’s character’s bedroom is truly something worth of note. The simple bed definitely complimented the wondrous mural it is set against, showcasing the artistry of her character.
Cruel Intentions is another famous teen film with a very strong following. It also features one of the most beautiful bedrooms on film, Kathryn Merteuil’s (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar). Its royal blue shade and built in bed with gorgeous see through drapes is so exquisite and perfect for the character’s evil scheming.
Nothing can be more opulent than an actual royal bedroom, which is why Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette’s bedroom is a part of this list. Not only does the bed look luscious, but the prints and all the layers are simply swoon worthy!
She may not exactly be blue blooded, but Mean Girls’ Regina George is pretty much teen royalty. Her bedroom, as pictured above, is also envy inducing, what with its massive size and its plush wall to wall carpeting. Of course, the matching headboard and above the bed PRINCESS decor is also an excellent touch.
Found in an Upper East Side penthouse is Blair Waldorf’s luxe bedroom. This Gossip Girl set is definitely one of our favorites as it perfectly sophisticated. Our favorite thing about this bedroom is possibly the contrast of the ultra feminine mother of pearl feature wall behind the preppy headboard as it creates a wonderful visual interest in the room.
Joseph Gordon Levitt’s character, Tom, in 500 Days of Summer may have had his heart broken, but his bedroom (aside from the fact that he is JGL) has our hearts fluttering. Being a trained architect (who’s going through stuff so he chose to work for a greeting card company), his bedroom is designed to give him certain freedoms. We adore this chalkboard headboard, but will warn you that if you’re allergic to dust, don’t even try recreating such a space for yourself.
Like any other Bond film, Quantum of Solace is exquisitely designed. This bedroom is a favorite among many interior design enthusiasts, what with its excellent expression of masculinity. Albeit very simple in black, white, and beige, it is very elegant and timeless, just like the James Bond franchise.
Amelie is a highly charming, whimsical, and adorable film and its set design is just as imaginative. The title character, Amelie’s, bedroom is also highly popular, as it looks perfectly romantic and decidedly French. Although some would suggest that red isn’t exactly the most comforting color, but this works for the theme of the film, adding appeal and beauty to the whole movie.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s is, without a doubt, one stylish movie. Holly Golightly’s character is the classic charmer, and her New York apartment is equally awe-inspiring. Her wrought iron bed draws us in, and the basket of flowers by the window adds a lot more to her carefree nature.
Another classic movie is Gone with the Wind, telling of the story of Scarlett O’Hara and Rhett Butler. Everyone who saw it will know how grand its soundstages are. The photo above, showcasing the bedroom of Scarlett and Rhett in their Atlanta home after they got married. We love the curtains, the gold detailing and the lush feature wall behind the headboard. The bedroom is a classic example of the Southern grandeur that the film talks about and it’s all so exciting.
Adapted from the Pulitzer winning novel of the same title, The Virgin Suicides is a haunting story of the Lisbon sisters. The turn of events may seem unfortunate, but it is a great tale about youth, nonetheless. Although the story is set in the 70s, the Lisbon sisters’ bedroom is quite timeless. What we love most is its very feminine airy pink and white drapes, as well as its white four poster beds.
Any Meryl Streep film is a hit in our books, so this Mamma Mia bedroom surely holds a spot on our list. Just look at the prints on the beddings and rug and all the red and try to tell us that you’re not getting all giddy about this airy bedroom.
Completely on point for today’s interior trends is one of the HBO series Girls’ characters’ apartments. The one pictured above is one of the main characters’, Marnie’s, boyfriend, Charlie, who lives in an old studio unit in the Bed-Stuy area, and has done a remarkable job transforming his very limited space into what some calls the true star of the show. What we love about this bedroom is that it maximizes the small space efficiently and creates a private space for the bed in its lofted set up. It may cause a little claustrophobia to some (like Marnie), but we think it’s just not for sharing with someone.
TV and movie are always among the best sources for style inspirations for the general public. It makes trends more accessible and easily available, providing a wide range of choices to get people started in decorating their own homes.
