Better Sleep for Gamers?

Gamers are some of the most notoriously sleep-deprived people on the planet. Sometimes, we can’t even help but cast judgment since many of them do it intentionally. Sacrificing their zzz’s for a few extra hours of play just makes us shake our heads but as long as they’re happy, right?

With the alarming rate, however, of sleep debt gamers rack up, the popular live streaming video platform that is commonly used by gamers, Twitch, has decided to take steps to help their comrades to get better shuteye. They partnered up with Endel, a startup that creates personalized environments to help people relax and focus, to create a channel that will help gamers sleep.

Insomnia by Endel continuously streams music 24/7 that is designed to help people fall asleep. The music is composed in real-time by their generative music engine in a way that will soothe listeners and impact their brainwaves to promote better sleep. It’s also designed to filter out distracting noises.

The never-ending music in Endel’s channel is practically designed to serve as your sleep soundtrack. Give it a try since Twitch is free to use anyway.

‘Sleep Enhanced Homes’ are the Latest in Sleep Trends

With sleep becoming one of the trendiest things as of late, it’s not surprising that new innovations are becoming available at almost every minute. There are lots of sleep tech released in the last few years that it’s completely overwhelming to choose just one sleep device, app, or tracker. You can also find tons of unique products that are designed to help improve your sleep nowadays. They’re not foolproof and still need some testing and studying to prove their effectiveness but some find them worthy of a try.

Adding to the long list of the sleep trends that are gaining traction as of late are the ‘Sleep Enhanced Homes’ being floated by Troon Pacific, a development and investment management company in San Francisco. They’re creating luxurious mansions that are built with the residents’ quality sleep in mind. From air filtration, sound-proofing, wall insulation, to climate control, they make sure that their homes are highly conducive for great slumber.

Their first creation, a $34 million mansion, known as Residence 2646, features a biophilic design and is equipped with features designed to enhance the residents’ wellbeing. It’s also extremely modern, sustainably-built, and incredibly environmentally-friendly, so it’s not just good for the health of the residents but also for Mother Earth.

The first thing that makes this property great for zzz’s is its insulation. The company focused on acoustic reduction so there are insulated areas that are not usually insulated. They also used sound-reducing drywall over plumbing lines and in sleeping areas.

The construction of the house is also executed in a way that reduces noise. The plumbing lines do not touch wood components so vibrations are further reduced. Empty cavities that can create echoing are filled, and magnetic transformers are swapped out to greener alternatives that do not make humming sounds.

If all of these feel too quiet for you, don’t worry as certain areas (master’s bedroom, bathrooms, and showers) have built-in speakers that can play calming music, white noise, or a meditation guide.

Aside from sound, the house also ensures great air quality. As pollutants can also affect one’s sleep, the builders addressed this problem by equipping the house with Merv 13 filtered air systems. They’re set to go through 9 to 13 air changes per day, guaranteeing that your indoor air will always be clean.

The house also uses a heat exchanger that helps maintain a specific air temperature indoors. This ensures the residents’ comfort which is always vital to a good night’s sleep.

The house is also designed to be calming in itself. Its biophilic design brings the outdoors in so residents will be surrounded with soothing greenery.

With a designated wellness area, bedtime routines can also be elevated in this house. Residents can easily workout, do yoga, do a sauna session, get a massage, or meditate. The relaxing effects of these activities are certainly helpful to your sleep.

Troon Pacific believes that one’s good health is the greatest luxury in life so they’ve always been dedicated to creating homes that will benefit the overall wellness of their residents. So with sleep being at the forefront of today’s health movement, it shouldn’t be surprising that they created a property that is focused on improving this area.

Unfortunately, not everyone can afford what Troon Pacific offers but you can always take cues from their creation to create your own sleep haven. If you’re building a new home, take into account the tweaks and details they added into their sleep-friendly manse and incorporate it into your own build. Who knows, you might just end up with an equally sleep-friendly home for much less.
